Character: A tufted or solitary grass, with a grey/green colour. Can form hybrids with related species. Flower: The panicle is large, tight and erect. Spikelets are bristly, oval and compressed. The flowers have short awns and overlap. Significance: This grass weed is now more prevalent in cultivated land, and like Barren Brome produces a large number of seeds, which are shed early in the Summer. If left untreated it will result in a major infestation in the following crop.
