Italian Rye-grass

Italian Rye-grass (Lolium multiflorum)

Italian annual or biennial, grows up to 90cm high

Character:  Not unlike perennial Rye-grass, but more sturdy and taller.

Flower:  Spikelets large and flattened, alternate on opposite sides of stem, similar to Couch, however the spikelets have their flat side to the stem.

Significance:  Resistance to herbicide is increasingly reported, making control in cereals problematic.
