Creeping Bent


Creeping Bent (Agrostis stolonifera)
 
Perennial, grows up to 60cm in height. 
 
 
 

 



Character:   A closely formed tufted grass that spreads by ground creeping stems, that produce roots from the stems where they touch the soil.

Flower:  The flower is oval, and pointed at the top when growing, but closes up as it matures.  Spikelets are usually in tight clusters, slim and single flowered.

Significance:  Occurs on grassland and on arable land.  Grows in most soil types.
