Frontier Launches Powerful New Roundup

July 2006 - A powerful new Roundup herbicide has been launched by Frontier Agriculture this season to meet the particular challenges of reliable weed control in modern, high pressure arable systems.

Containing 450 g/litre of the potassium salt of glyphosate complemented by the very latest patented formulation technology, Roundup Ace delivers 25% more active ingredient per litre than ordinary 360 formulations to improve ease and convenience of use while reducing packaging, handling and waste.

"Faster uptake and more efficient translocation within the plant makes the new formulation rainfast in just 1 hour on annual weeds and common couch, while allowing cultivation after as little as 6 hours," explains Frontier agronomist, Bob Mills.

"Coupled with the highest possible levels of long-term weed control and the greatest consistency under the widest range of weather conditions, this gives growers just what they need to cope with the pressures of today's arable systems.

"Roundup Ace is a significant advance on ordinary 360 glyphosates with its reliable control of even the toughest weeds, faster turn-round from spraying to cultivation and sowing, and altogether less sensitivity to rainfall, dew and extremes of temperature. And, of course, it comes with the proven security, safety and support of the Roundup brand."

The new product, available exclusively through Frontier, is recommended for weed control in set aside; grassland renewal, oilseed rape, linseed and pulse desiccation; cereal harvest management; stubble and stale seedbed weed control; and widespread general use around buildings and yards.

In combinable cropping systems, recommended rates vary from 0.8 litres/ha for cereal harvest management to 3.2 litres/ha for the toughest couch, perennial broad-leaved weed or volunteer potato challenges.

Carrying no hazard symbols and packaged in easy-pour 'anti'glug' containers, it offers the greatest possible safety and convenience for operators and the environment.

"Roundup Ace is one of the most compatible glyphosates ever for tank mixing," adds Bob Mills. "It can also be used in knapsack sprayers and weed wipers for selective weed control in a wide range of Environmental Stewardship options.

"We recommend including the specialist additive X-Change at 0.10% to 0.25% of spray volume to optimise activity in hard water areas."

Full recommendations for using Roundup Ace in all its main applications and water conditioning with X-Change are set out in a handy 12-page guide available from Frontier specialists across the country.
